Last Bell in Killarney – A Celebration of Hearts, Dreams, and Identity

Last Bell in Killarney – A Celebration of Hearts, Dreams, and Identity

News by FOUN

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, a deeply moving and heartwarming Last Bell celebration took place at the John Paul II Pastoral Centre for the students of the Ukrainian Sunday School in Killarney, organized by FOUN Kerry.

It was a day when hearts beat in unison. Smiling children, heartfelt words of gratitude, certificate presentations, gifts, warm hugs, and a little children’s party made this day truly unforgettable.
Each child received a certificate recognizing their personal achievements — because every student who chose to come to school on Sundays instead of taking a day off has already made a powerful choice in favor of knowledge, language, culture, and the future.
And that choice deserves the highest respect 🌟.

Special recognition was given to the most diligent students, including a young girl who made the greatest progress in learning the Ukrainian language and literature.

The celebration brought everyone together: parents, children, teachers, volunteers, and friends of the school.
Natalia Eismont, the founder of the Ukrainian charity Sunday school in Killarney, addressed the guests with a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the community for their support — and especially to the parents who care deeply, who bring their children to school, who invest in their values and believe in the power of education and native language, even far from home.

Because within every lesson, every word, every song — our identity lives on.
And we preserve it together, in the circle of those who remember who we are.

💛💙 With love for Ukraine, faith in our children, and dignity in our hearts — forward to new accomplishments!

News by FOUN

FOUN Soccer Development “One Year Anniversary”

FOUN Soccer Development “One Year Anniversary”

News by FOUN

Dear children and parents of our football pitch! Warmest congratulations on our anniversary!

An initiative that we were discouraged from starting, that many didn’t believe in, and that some said could never gather enough children in Killarney — today celebrates its first year! This year has been a real breakthrough in the development of our children and their football skills.

A heartfelt thank-you to our coach, Sergii Oleksiyovych, who carries the core of the work in developing our young athletes! Without your dedication, belief, and tireless effort, none of this would have been possible. In this image, we see two halves of the same story: a boy with a football and professional footballer Oleksandr Zinchenko. Between them are not just years — but bridges built of effort, support, and belief. What makes the difference between a little boy and a champion?

• The support of parents who believed first — before stadiums or fame.

• Self-belief that endured defeats, injuries, and doubts.

• Daily hard work — when others were resting.

• A peaceful and safe environment to grow, train, and play.

• Opportunities — tryouts, tournaments, and travel.

• A coach who saw potential and helped to unlock it.

• A team of like-minded peers who pulled each other forward.

• A country that supports sport — with infrastructure, programs, and motivation. This is not just the story of one boy. It is a story that becomes possible only when the whole environment works together for the development of a child.

Finalists of the Irish Red Cross Corporate Impact Award 2025

Finalists of the Irish Red Cross Corporate Impact Award 2025

News by FOUN

“Future of the Ukrainian Nation” – Finalists of the Irish Red Cross Corporate Impact Award 2025!

We are thrilled and immensely proud to share that our organization, “Future of the Ukrainian Nation,” has been selected as a finalist for the Irish Red Cross Corporate Impact Award 2025! Being listed alongside globally recognized companies such as Revolut, Aldi, Nestlé Ireland, Aviva is not just a great honor but a powerful reminder that good deeds truly matter. However, for us, this recognition is so much more than an award. It represents the journey we walk every single day — a path filled with pain, hope, determination, and faith. We are the ones who arrived in Ireland seeking refuge from war, leaving behind our homes, jobs, language, and familiar systems. In this new country with its new rules, we made the choice not just to survive, but to live with dignity, consciously integrate into society, and dedicate ourselves to serving others every day. This recognition is: • For the volunteers who pour their hearts and time into our mission; • For our partners who trust, support, and inspire us — especially SKDP and SICAP, whose consistent collaboration empowers us to do more and reach further; • For everyone who believes in us, even when times are tough. This nomination belongs to all of us. It’s about the collective effort of every individual who contributes to the mission of “Future of the Ukrainian Nation.” We extend our deepest gratitude to Irish Red Cross for providing us with this extraordinary opportunity and for recognizing our hard work. A special thank you to everyone who walks this path with us — together, we have already changed many lives, and this is only the beginning. Our work continues to make a significant impact on the development of the region. We alleviate the pressure on social services, contribute to the improvement of education, culture, sports, and children’s mental health. We support the integration of migrants and help build a more inclusive, compassionate, and resilient society. Thank you for believing in us, for being part of this journey, and for making a difference. #GoodDeedsMatter #CorporateImpactAward #HumanitarianAwards2025 #FutureOfUkrainianNation #IrishRedCross #HumanityMatters #IntegrationWithDignity #TogetherWeRise #SocialImpact #Ireland

Major Boost for Killarney with Cronin’s Wood Social Housing Development

Major Boost for Killarney with Cronin’s Wood Social Housing Development

News by FOUN

On Thursday afternoon, a significant boost for housing in Killarney was confirmed with the announcement that the upcoming Cronin's Wood development, which has secured planning approval, will be dedicated entirely to meeting social housing needs.

The Department has given the go-ahead for the project, which will consist of 249 homes, to be constructed by Cooperative Housing Ireland. With planning permission in place, the development will roll out in stages between 2025 and 2027.

The 249 homes will include:

38 one-bedroom units
86 two-bedroom units
117 three-bedroom units
6 four-bedroom units
2 five-bedroom units

All the homes within this project will contribute to the social housing program, with tenants being assigned from the Kerry County Council's approved housing applicants list.

Cllr Niall Kelleher expressed his support for the initiative, acknowledging its role in addressing Killarney’s housing waiting list. However, he also suggested that a portion of the houses be made available for an affordable housing scheme, as the middle-income group faces challenges both with securing mortgages and not qualifying for social housing.

Cllr Marie Moloney echoed this positive sentiment, calling it a beneficial addition to the town's social housing efforts, alongside the approval of a minor injuries clinic. Deputy Danny Healy-Rae also highlighted the project's importance, noting that it will play a vital role in providing housing for approved applicants on Kerry County Council's list.

Cronin’s Wood is situated on Killarney’s eastern side, near the road from Daly’s Roundabout leading to Spa.

A new development of 67 apartments has been given the green light for Killarney by the Department of Housing and Local Government, it was confirmed this week.

The project, led by Focus Housing Association in partnership with Kerry County Council, will be situated on a vacant site near the entrance to the Woodlands Industrial Estate, just off the Killarney bypass, close to the National Car Test Centre turn-off.

The development will feature 31 one-bedroom apartments and 36 two-bedroom units.

Kerry County Council has reiterated its commitment to supporting approved housing bodies and is already collaborating closely with them to deliver social housing across the county.

The greatest housing demand in Killarney is for one and two-bedroom units, which have the longest waiting lists.

Focus Housing Association is an award-winning, independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides affordable rental housing.
